Women’s Basketball - Student-Athlete of the Week
Korin Baker I F | Whitman | SR | Waucanda, Wash. | Curlew HS
Baker was named Tournament MVP at the Kim Evanger Raney Memorial Classic after guiding the Blues to a 2-0 week. Baker averaged 25 points over the two games while shooting 22-32, as well as collecting seven rebounds in each game. Against East Texas Baptist University she dropped 26 points on 11-16 shooting, and handed out four assists. Against La Verne she put up 24 points (11-16) and handed out three assists.
Men’s Basketball - Student-Athlete of the Week
Jake Holtz I F | Whitworth | SR | Kapolei, Hawaii | Damien Memorial
Holtz averaged 20.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 2.5 steals and 2.0 blocks per game to lead Whitworth to a 2-0 start to the season. He had 26 points, eight rebounds and four assists in Tuesday's 84-69 win over ETBU, scoring ten straight points in a 10-2 run in the final five minutes of the game that turned a 65-64 lead into a 75-66 lead with 2:39 to play. On Thursday he had 15 points, eight rebounds, five assists, three steals and two blocks to lead the Pirates to a 90-59 blowout of Benedictine.
