The Northwest Conference is proud to announce its Student-Athletes of the Week in Cross Country for the week of October 15th through October 21st.
Women’s Cross Country - Student-Athlete of the Week
Riley Buese I Lewis & Clark | SR | Denver, Colo. | Northfield
Buese earned her second win of the season and led Lewis & Clark to their first team victory at the L&C Invite since 2012 on Saturday afternoon. The Pioneers senior finished 83.1 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher when she crossed the line in 21:38.6. As a team, the Pioneers placed first out of five Northwest Conference teams and edged second-place Whitman (55) by six points.
Men’s Cross Country - Student-Athlete of the Week
Evan Markelz I Lewis & Clark | SO | Mountain View, Calif. | Mountainview
Markelz earned his second collegiate cross country victory on Saturday morning at the L&C Invite. He finished first out of 100 runners when he crossed the line in 24:51.9. Markelz finished over 15 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher.
