Women’s Swimming- Student-Athlete of the Week
Laurel Knox I George Fox | SO | Moses Lake, Wash. | Moses Lake
Knox set a program record and secured three wins over the weekend. She dominated the women's 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 18:15, establishing a program record for the Bruins and finishing a full minute ahead of the rest of the pack. Knox recovered well from her record-setting event to claim victory in the 100-yard freestyle, narrowly edging out her teammate by less than a second to take first place. To conclude the meet, she anchored her team in the 200-yard freestyle relay, capping off a successful competition with one more win.
Men’s Swimming- Student-Athlete of the Week
Zachary Washburn I Whitworth | JR | Moses Lake, Wash. | Moses Lake
Washburn, competing in his final dual meet as a Pirate, was the only three-time individual winner for Whitworth's men, who won 13 of 14 events in a 194.5 - 66.5 win over Whitman. He just missed a pool record by two one-hundredths of a second in the 50-yard freestyle, winning in 20.98. He also won the 100 breaststroke in 57.55, a season-best time and the best mark in the NWC this season, and 100 freestyle (46.37). He anchored the winning 200 freestyle relay. Whitworth finished the dual meet season 7-0.
