HILLSBORO, ORE.- The Northwest Conference, along with Willamette University, is proud to announce that Morgan Shaw has been named to the NCAA Division III Student-Athlete Advisory Commitee (SAAC) as a primary member.
The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) represents the Division III student-athlete voice in the Division III governance structure by reviewing legislation; identifying significant student-athlete issues; implementing national student-athlete based initiatives; encouraging community outreach; and enhancing Division III student-athlete involvement in and understanding of Division III in general. The SAAC is also the committee that is primarily responsible for maintaining and coordinating the division’s nationwide partnership with Special Olympics. The committee meets in-person four times each year in January, April, July and November. It also conducts teleconferences as needed.
"This role is an opportunity for me to learn beneficial information that I can bring back for all student athletes within the Northwest Conference. I am most looking forward to connecting with other Division III athletes who really want to make change and hear their new ideas and perspectives", said Shaw.
A freshman majoring in Politics, Policy, Law and Ethics at Willamette University, Shaw is a member of the women's cross country and track and field teams. Shaw is additionally a member of the Willamette University SAAC.
Shaw replaces Madelyn Russell of Pacific University who served as an associate member of National SAAC. The Northwest Conference would like to thank Russell - a women's swimming student-athlete - for her dedication to the position.
Congratulations to Morgan Shaw on the outstanding achievement of earning a position on the NCAA Division III Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. We look forward to seeing the impact she will have on the SAAC and in the world of college athletics.
