Burke & Efe Isik Named NWC Basketball Student Athletes of the Week

HILLSBORO, Ore. - The Northwest Conference is proud to announce its Student-Athletes of the Week in Basketball for the week of December 18th through January 2nd.

 

Women’s Basketball- Student-Athlete of the Week
Eve Burke I Guard I Linfield | SO | Port Angeles, Wash. | Port Angeles

Sophomore Eve Burke was instrumental in two Linfield road wins against Corban and Northwest. Burke totaled 15 points and nine rebounds in the Wildcats' 73-66 overtime win over Corban and followed that with a game-high 17 points while adding seven rebounds in Linfield's 64-60 win over Northwest. The Port Angeles, Wash., native has scored 13 points or more in each of the last six games and ranks among the Northwest Conference leaders in points per game at 9.5.

 

Men’s Basketball- Student-Athlete of the Week
Ali Efe Isik I Guard I Whitman | SO | Bursa, Turkey | Cathedral

Efe Isik helped the Blues to a 1-1 week over a Top 25 opponent which included a 32-point night, one point off the NWC individual game high this season. In a win over  Misericordia, he nearly missed out on a double double with 18 points and 8 rebounds while also shooting 50% from the field and 60% in three pointers…against No. 15 Elmhurst, he almost single-handedly helped the Blues pull of a historic comeback after cutting a 32-point deficit down to 6. He scored a game-high 32 points (10-17 FG) with 11 rebounds for a double double plus recorded four steals and handed out 3 assists.
