Hoopes & Dangleis Named NWC Swimming Student Athletes of the Week

HILLSBORO, Ore. - The Northwest Conference is proud to announce its Student-Athletes of the Week in Swimming for the week of January 8th through January 16th. 

 

Women’s Swimming- Student-Athlete of the Week
Isabella Hoopes I Whitworth | FR | Everett, Wash. | Glacier Peak

Hoopes led the Whitworth women to a sweep of Puget Sound and Pacific Lutheran, including the Pirates' first dual victory over PLU since 2014.  Against UPS (107.5 - 95.5 win) she swam breaststroke on the winning 200 medley relay (1:52.94) then went on to win the 400 I.M. (4:45.36) and the 100 breaststroke (1:08.60).  In the meet vs. PLU (109-93) she swam breaststroke on a runner-up 400 medley relay, then went on to win the 200 I.M. (2:14.89) and the 200 breaststroke (2:30.38) in a close race with Makenzie Chan-Orcutt, a first team All-NWC finisher in that event last season.  Her win in the 200 breast clinched the team victory for the Pirates.

 

Men’s Swimming- Student-Athlete of the Week
Parker Dangleis I Whitworth | FR | Hockinson, Wash. | Hockinson

Dangleis did not lose a race as Whitworth swept Puget Sound and Pacific Lutheran.  In Friday's 133-64 win over UPS, Parker anchored the winning 200 medley relay (1:37.33) and went on to win the 200 Free (1:47.95) and 100 Free (48.23).  And during Saturday's 156-33 win over PLU, he won the 50 Free (21.78) and the 500 Free (4:59.14) and anchored the winning 400 Free relay (3:15.91).  Parker demonstrated an ability to excel at a wide range of distances and helped keep the Pirates unbeaten in NWC dual meets.
