Men’s Cross Country- Student-Athlete of the Week
Evan Markelz I Lewis & Clark | FR | Mountain View, Calif. | Mountain View
Markelz finished first on Lewis & Clark and ran the seventh-fastest time in program history at the prestigious Dellinger Invite on Friday afternoon. Running against a field of NCAA DI runners, Markelz finished 46th out of 136 runners with a time of 24:40.2. His time puts him second all-time in program history for a first-year over 8K and was the fastest time by a Pioneer rookie since 1974.
Women’s Cross Country Student-Athlete of the Week
Riley Buese I Lewis & Clark | JR | Denver, Colo. | Northfield
Buese finished first on the team and ran the third-fastest time in program history on Friday at the prestigious Dellinger Invite. Running against a field of NCAA DI runners, Buese placed 45th overall with a PR time of 21:21.8. Her time moved him from sixth to third in program history and was just eight seconds off the program record which was set in 2007. She improved her time at the Dellinger Invite by 45 seconds and her place by 13 spots from her 2022 showing.
