Softball- Position Student-Athlete of the Week
Katie Phillips I Linfield University | GR | LF I Tustin, Calif. | Tustin
Phillips batted .432 with 16 hits in a 10-0 week for No. 6 Linfield. The Wildcats ran their win streak to 18 straight games. Phillips scored 16 times and drove in 18 runs. She notched five doubles, a triple and a home run. Her week was highlighted by a 4-for-5 performance with three runs, four RBI, a double and a homer in the Wildcats' series finale at Whitworth.
Softball- Pitcher Student-Athlete of the Week
Tayah Kelley I Linfield University | P I SR | Myrtle Creek, Ore. | South Umpqua
Kelley earned seven wins in the circle to improve to 24-0 on the season. She went the distance in a win over Whitworth on Wednesday and tossed four scoreless innings in a five-inning win on Thursday, allowing just two hits. Kelley opened the Wildcats' series against Pacific on Friday with a complete-game, two-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts. She threw two perfect innings to pick up the save in Game 2, striking out all six batters faced. She struck out another six batters in Game 3. The sixth-ranked Wildcats finished their series with Puget Sound on Tuesday. Kelley sat down 12 batters in the opening game of the doubleheader. She earned her Division III-leading 24th win of the season in relief in the finale.
