HILLSBORO, Ore. - The Northwest Conference is proud to announce its Student-Athletes of the Week in softball for the week of April 4th through 10th.
Softball- Position Student-Athlete of the Week
Kamryn Potter I George Fox University | SR | Junction City, Ore. | Junction City
Potter made sure that her Senior Day weekend was won to remember, knocking over three home runs in Fox's sweep over Willamette. The three homers each came in three different games, with Potter's first of the series a walk-off solo shot in the seventh inning to give Fox a comeback 4-3 win. For the series, Potter totaled five hits, six RBIs, scored four runs, and finished with four put-outs. Though the Bruins lost their two games to #7 Linfield on the Wednesday prior to senior day, Potter still put on a show, recording four hits, two doubles, and two RBIs.
Softball- Pitcher Student-Athlete of the Week
Tayah Kelley I Linfield University University | SR | Myrtle Creek, Ore. | South Umpqua
Kelley improved to 17-0 in the circle in three appearances. In Wednesday's opener against George Fox, the Myrtle Creek native threw an eight-inning complete game with 10 strikeouts. She tossed two scoreless innings in relief to earn her second save of the season in the nightcap. Kelley registered double digit strikeouts again in a six-inning win at Puget Sound on Friday. She notched a two-hit shutout with 12 Ks and didn't walk a single batter.
