McGrath & Kelley Named NWC Softball Student Athletes of the Week

HILLSBORO, Ore. - The Northwest Conference is proud to announce its Student-Athletes of the Week in softball for the week of February 27th through March 7th.

 

Softball- Position Student-Athlete of the Week

Erin Mcgrath I Pacific Lutheran University | SR | Woodinville, Wash.| Woodinville

Hit .500 at the plate with three multi-hit games in a four-game sweep of GFU. McGrath matched a milestone on Sunday, blasting her 34 career home run, tying the school record that has stood since 2002. McGrath had seven hits, scored five runs, and drove in four runs. Three of her seven hits went for extra bases, including two home runs. 

 

Softball- Pitcher Student-Athlete of the Week

Tayah Kelley I Linfield University| SR | Myrtle Creek, Ore. | South Umpqua

Tayah Kelley earned three wins in the circle in Linfield's sweep of Lewis & Clark to begin NWC play. She allowed a combined four runs in her three appearances, racking up 19 strikeouts along the way. The senior went the distance in a 4-3 win for the Wildcats in Sunday's opener, allowing three runs on six hits while striking out nine batters and walking none. In Game 3 on Monday, Kelley tossed a five-inning shutout as the 'Cats ran away with an 8-0 rout of the Pioneers. She also made a relief appearance in the series finale, striking out six batters in 4 1/3 innings to pick up her sixth win of the season.
