HILLSBORO, Ore. - The Northwest Conference is proud to announce its Student-Athletes of the Week in softball for the week of March 20th through 28th.
Softball- Position Student-Athlete of the Week
Katie Phillips I Linfield University | GR | Tustin, Calif. | Tustin
Phillips batted .438 in Linfield's four-game Northwest Conference sweep of Willamette, going 7 for 16 with six runs scored and 11 RBI. The reigning NWC Player of the Year registered multiple hits in two of the games, led by a 3-for-5 performance in a six-inning, 13-1 win in Game 2. She drove in two or more runs in all four games. In Game 3, Phillips went 2 for 4 with a pair of two-run bombs, her first of the year. It was the third two-homer game of her collegiate career.
Softball- Pitcher Student-Athlete of the Week
Kami Gibson I George Fox University | FR | Roseburg, Ore. | Roseburg
Gibson pitched a nearly flawless six innings in the Bruins' 7-5 win over Puget Sound on Sunday, striking out 10 batters and not allowing a hit as Fox rallied from an 0-5 deficit. Gibson allowed just one of the 19 batters she faced to reach base in the win. On Monday, the freshman struck out three, giving up just four hits and two runs in a 6-2 complete game win over UPS.
