Fischel & Conaway Named NWC Baseball Student Athletes of the Week

HILLSBORO, Ore. - The Northwest Conference is proud to announce its Student-Athletes of the Week in Baseball for the week of March 20th through 28th.

 

Baseball- Position Student-Athlete of the Week

Ethan Fischel I Willamette | GR | Eureka, Calif. | Eureka

Fischel batted .500 (6 of 12) in Willamette's three-game sweep of Whitworth and played a key role in winning each game. He scored 5 runs, earned 7 RBIs, hit 2 doubles, blasted 2 homers, and walked twice. In the 3-2 (10 inn.) game to start the series, he hit a solo homer in the 4th and an RBI single in the 8th to tie the score. He didn't score the winning run, but  was intentionally walked and was on base for the game-winning balk. In the second game, Fischel had 2 hits, scored twice, and earned 1 RBI. In the third game, he was 2 of 4 with a double, a 3-run homer, and a sacrifice fly in an 11-1 win. Fischel recorded two hits in all three games. Also, he was 0 for 1 with an RBI in a mid-week 10-5 win over Linfield in a non-conference game.



 

Baseball- Pitcher Student-Athlete of the Week

Mateus Conaway I Whitman  | JR | Crockett, Calif. | Alhambra

Conaway tossed 6 complete innings in a Whitman win against Pacific. He scattered four hits over the 6 scoreless innings while also recording six strikeouts
