McGrath and Kelley Named NWC Softball Student Athletes of the Week

HILLSBORO, Ore. - The Northwest Conference is proud to announce its Student-Athletes of the Week in softball for the week of February 13th through 20th.

 

Softball- Position Student-Athlete of the Week

Erin McGrath I Pacific Lutheran University | SR | Woodinville, Wash.| Woodinville

Hit .590 at the plate on six games in the Deep South, including four against nationally-ranked opponents. In addition, McGrath shattered school records for doubles and extra base hits. McGrath scored eight runs, had 7 RBIs, and five extra base hits. That includes four multi-hit games, including a four-for-four effort to close the trip in a blowout win over Emory. 

 

Softball- Pitcher Student-Athlete of the Week

Tayah Kelley I Linfield University | SR | Myrtle Creek, Ore.| South Umpqua

Kelley opened her senior season with a 3-0 record and a 0.94 ERA in Linfield's road trip down to California. She tossed three complete games, striking out 26 batters while walking just one. In the Wildcats' season opener at Pomona-Pitzer, Kelley allowed one run while striking out 10. She threw a one-hit shutout with 12 Ks in an eight-inning win at Redlands. The Myrtle Creek native picked up her third win of the week at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, allowing four runs, two earned, while claiming another four victims via strikeout.
