Gray & Patrick Named NWC Basketball Student Athletes of the Week

HILLSBORO, Ore. - The Northwest Conference is proud to announce its Student-Athletes of the Week in basketball for the week of February 6th to February 13th. 

 

Women’s Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week

Sydney Gray| Pacific University| SR |G |Central Point, OR.| Crater 

Gray played a major role in both of Pacific’s wins over the weekend. On Friday, Pacific defeated Willamette. Gray had a game high 17 points in the win. On her way to 17 points she was 3-3 from three-point range. From the field she went 6-12 while also collecting 5 rebounds with two on the offensive end. She gave the Boxers the lead with 49 seconds left following a And-1 and converted free throw. On Saturday the Boxers went on the road and defeated #16 Puget Sound. In the win on Saturday she had 18 points on 5-7 shooting, 2-3 from long range and 6-8 from the free throw line. Gray also earned a double-double in the contest pulling down 10 rebounds. For the weekend, Gray averaged 17.5 points on 58% shooting from the field. She also averaged 7 rebounds in the two games.

 

Men’s Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week

Brenden Patrick | Lewis & Clark College | SR | G | Oakland, Calif. | Bishop O’Dowd

Patrick averaged 30 points, four rebounds and four assists to help Lewis & Clark stay in the hunt for their first trip to the Northwest Conference Tournament since the 2014-15 season. The senior shot 51.3 percent from the field, went 18-20 from the free throw line and turned the ball over once in 70 minutes of action. On Friday night, he tied the Pamplin Gymnasium single-game record for points with 43 points in a 95-92 win over Pacific Lutheran. Patrick scored 29 of his career-high 43 points in the second half and finished the game 14-23 from the field and 13-14 from the free throw line. His 43 points are the most by a Northwest Conference player this season and tied for the 12th-most by a Division III player this season.
