Men’s Cross Country- Student-Athlete of the Week
Peter Weiss I George Fox | GR | Laguna Niguel, Calif | Crean Lutheran
The sixth-year graduate student made his triumphant return to the course after missing over a year due to leg injury. Weiss competed at the 2023 Division III National Preview, where 11 of the top 35 teams competed. In his first race back, Weiss ran a 25:05.1 8k to put him in eighth place. The graduate student's time made him the top-finishing student of any school on the West Coast.
Women’s Cross Country Student-Athlete of the Week
Kayla Aalpoel I George Fox | SO | Bellingham, Wash. | Meridian
Aalpoel was one of the top runners at the Division III Cross Country National Preview in Pennsylvania; in a race that featured 11 of the top 35 cross country teams in the nation, the sophomore started strong and stayed in the top 10 throughout the entire six kilometer race, finishing in ninth position. Aapoel was one of two underclassmen to finish in the top 10 as she ran a 22:14.8.
