Jerenz, Sparks & Dalziel Named NWC Football Student Athletes of the Week

HILLSBORO, Ore. - The Northwest Conference is proud to announce its Student-Athletes of the Week in Football for the week of October 23rd through October 30th.

Football- Offense- Student-Athlete of the Week
Izaiah Jerenz I WR I Puget Sound | SR | Lacey, Wash.  | Timberline

Jerenz had 22 receptions on Saturday which tied a school record and his 264 total receiving yards, resulting in three touchdowns, helped cement the 40-21 win against Willamette. Jerenz received for his longest pass this year an impressive 68 yards, a team high for the Loggers. Jerenz has accumulated 1,046 receiving yards this season and 12 touchdowns. 

 

Football- Defense- Student-Athlete of the Week
Chance Sparks I CB I Linfield | JR | Hillsboro, Ore. | Century

Junior Chance Sparks tallied two interceptions and two tackles in Linfield's 42-27 victory over Pacific. Sparks returned one interception for a 59-yard touchdown. The Hillsboro native is second in the Northwest Conference in total interceptions with three and is one of four players to have recorded a pick-six. 

 

Football- Special Teams- Student-Athlete of the Week
Gavin Dalziel I K | Linfield | JR | Brier, Wash. | Shorecrest

Junior Gavin Dalziel made 3-5 extra point attempts and tallied three field goals in the Wildcats' 42-27 win over Pacific on Oct. 28. Dalziel's field goals were from 26, 29 and 36 yards. The junior also combined 441 kickoff yards on nine attempts including two touchbacks. Dalziel holds the second-best made field goal percentage at 77.8%.
