HILLSBORO, Ore. - The Northwest Conference is proud to announce its Student-Athletes of the Week in Women’s Volleyball for the week of October 16th through October 23rd.
Women’s Volleyball- Offense- Student-Athlete of the Week
Kaity Barr I MB I Whitworth | SR | Roseville, Calif. | Del Oro
Normally a defensive nominee, Kaity was nearly unstoppable on offense last week. She hit .739 over two matches, with 17 kills and no errors in 23 attacks. She led the Pirates in a pair of sweeps with 22 total points in six sets. Whitworth's sweep of George Fox gave the Pirates sole possession of second place in the NWC standings. Kaity now leads the NWC by a wide margin in hitting percentage (.404 - one of only seven players in NCAA Division III above .400).
Women’s Volleyball- Defense- Student-Athlete of the Week
Shyla Sato I Libero I Willamette | SR | Honolulu, Hawaii | Mid-Pacific Institute
Sato concluded the weekend with a total of 54 digs in Willamette's two matches while averaging 6.75 digs per set. She registered 30 digs in a 3-2 victory over Linfield University on Friday and had 24 digs against Pacific Lutheran on Saturday. With the back-to-back solid efforts, Sato increased her career total to 1,924 digs.
