Morris, Brown & Hoang Named NWC Football Student Athletes of the Week

HILLSBORO, Ore. - The Northwest Conference is proud to announce its Student-Athletes of the Week in Football for the week of September 25th through October 2nd.

Football- Offense- Student-Athlete of the Week
Trey Morris I QB I Lewis & Clark | SR. | Seattle, Wash.  | Rainier Beach

Morris came on in relief of the Pioneers starting quarterback to begin the fourth quarter and led the Pioneers to scoring drives on all five of his drives to lead Lewis & Clark to a 37-31, double-overtime win over host George Fox University. The senior posted single-game, career-highs in every major category finishing 17-21 with three touchdown passes and 185 yards. He led the Pioneers to 18 points in the final 9:54 of regulation and then threw the game-winning touchdown pass on the second-play, of the second overtime. The win marked Lewis & Clark's first over George Fox since they restarted their program in 2014 and the team's first since 1946.

In Pacific's 28-14 win over Puget Sound, Brown had 11 tackles, a sack and 2.5 tackles for loss.

 

Football- Special Teams- Student-Athlete of the Week
Thien Hoang l I K | Lewis & Clark | FR | Portland, Ore. | Lincoln

Hoang posted a career-high 11 points and made three high-pressure field goals to lead Lewis & Clark to a huge comeback 37-31, double-overtime win over host George Fox University. The freshman kicker hit field goals of 41 yards, 39 yards and 26 yards in the contest. His first field goal came with just two seconds left in the first half to cut the deficit to 14-10. He tied the game with no time left in regulation with his 39-yard boot. Hoang added a 26-yard field goal in overtime to give the Pioneers their first lead of the game.
