Men’s Cross Country- Student-Athlete of the Week
Evan Markelz I Lewis & Clark | FR | Mountain View, Calif. | Mountain View
Markelz finished first among all DIII runners and 11th overall on Saturday at the Charles Bowles Willamette Invitational. He finished sixth among collegiate runners and just missed his PR time by 0.3 seconds, when he crossed the line in 24:40.5. Markelz finished almost 36 spots and nearly 50 seconds ahead of the second Division III runner to finish.
Women’s Cross Country Student-Athlete of the Week
Malia Heien I Lewis & Clark | SO | Denver, Colo. | Northfield
Heien was the first DIII runner to cross the finish line on Saturday at the Charles Bowles Willamette Invitational. The Pioneers sophomore came across in 18:31.2 to finish 32nd overall. She finished two places ahead of the next-highest DIII finisher.
