Clerici & Thomson Named NWC Baseball Student-Athletes of the Week

HILLSBORO, Ore. - The Northwest Conference is proud to announce its Student-Athletes of the Week in baseball for the week of April 4th to April 11th.
 
Baseball - Pitcher Student-Athlete of the Week

Clerici closed out three victories to set the program record for saves in a single-season (seven) during a 4-2 week for Lewis & Clark College. The sophomore closer posted two saves and allowed just one single and one walk in 5.1 innings. Ten of his 16 outs on the week came by way of the strikeout. After pitching the final two innings of a conference win over Puget Sound on Tuesday, Clerici earned the save in both ends of a doubleheader sweep of the University of Redlands on Saturday. In game one, Clerici pitched the final two innings and struck out three to set the program record for saves in a season. He came back for the final 1.1 innings in game two and struck out three. On the week, Clerici pitched multiple innings in all three outings, struck out at least three in all three appearances and stranded all three runners he inherited.
 
Baseball - Position Student-Athlete of the Week
Jack Thomson | Lewis & Clark | SR | 3B | Millbrae, CA | Saint Ignatius
Thomson finished the week hitting .563 with a slugging percentage just under 1.200 to lead Lewis & Clark to a 4-2 week. The senior third baseman finished the week 9-16 with eight runs scored, seven RBI, six extra-base hits (four doubles and two home runs) and 15 free passes (nine walks and six hit by pitches). He set the program record for doubles in a single-season (20) and career hit by pitches (41). On Tuesday, he reached in nine of his 10 trips to the plate in a conference split with the University of Puget Sound. Thomson added two-run hits in each of the Pioneers two final wins in Southern California.
