Kelley & Menzer Named NWC Softball Student-Athletes of the Week

HILLSBORO, Ore. - The Northwest Conference is proud to announce its Student-Athletes of the Week in softball for the week of March 14th to March 20th.
 
Softball - Pitcher Student-Athlete of the Week
Tayah Kelley | Linfield | JR | P | Myrtle Creek, OR | South Umpqua
Kelley improved to 12-0 on the season with a pair of complete-game wins against George Fox as Linfield took three of four games with the Bruins to tighten its grip on first place in the Northwest Conference standings. Kelley allowed three hits and struck out 11 in both of her outings. She allowed just one earned run in both games. Kelley also tossed a seven-inning, four-hit gem in a make-up game with Willamette on Wednesday, claiming 10 more victims via strikeout. Her 120 strikeouts and 0.77 ERA both lead the NWC.
 
Softball - Position Student-Athlete of the Week
Heather Menzer | Whitworth | 1B | SR | San Diego, CA | Rancho Bernardo
Heather batted .538 with seven RBIs and five runs scored. She hit a home run and a triple among her seven base hits. Defensively she did not commit an error in 27 defensive chances and was part of two double plays.
