HILLSBORO, Ore. - The Northwest Conference is proud to announce its Student-Athletes of the Week in swimming for the week of November 29th to December 5th.
Women’s Swimming Student-Athlete of the Week
Emma Thompson | Whitworth | FR | Spokane, WA | Mead High School
Emma won all three of her individual events at the Logger Invitational, and set two meet records and one school record in the process. She broke the Logger Invite record, the Pirate team record and hit an NCAA B qualifying mark in the 100 backstroke with a time of 56.15 in the prelims. She won the event in 56.41. She won the 200 backstroke in 2:03.59, which is also a new meet record. Her third win was the 200 I.M. in 2:08.83. She led off the winning 400 freestyle relay (3:36.42). She was also part of the 400 medley relay (2nd place), 200 freestyle relay (2nd place), 200 medley relay (2nd place) and 800 freestyle relay (2nd place).
Men’s Swimming Student-Athlete of the Week
Tanner Filion | Whitman | JR | Louisville, CO | Monarch High School
First place finishes at the Logger Invitational (Dec 3-5)... won the 100 backstroke with a time of 49.42... won the 100 freestyle (45.53), 50 backstroke (22.82) and 200 backstroke (1:50.83). His prelim 200 back time of 1:47.97 set a school record and an NCAA B Cut time
