Ordaz & Grady Named NWC Swimming Student-Athletes of the Week

HILLSBORO, Ore. - The Northwest Conference is proud to announce its Student-Athletes of the Week in swimming for the week of October 25th to October 31st.
 
Women’s Swimming Student-Athlete of the Week
Jessica Ordaz | PLU | SO | Los Angeles, CA | Alliance Env. Science & Tech
Ordaz won the NWC Sprint Pentathlon, scoring 89 points in the five events. That includes winning the 50 fly and 50 free while placing second in the 100 IM and the 50 breast. Ordaz was 4th in the 50 back.
 
Men’s Swimming Student-Athlete of the Week
Ryan Grady | Whitworth | SR | Gig Harbor, WA | Gig Harbor High School
Ryan won three of the five events at the NWC Sprint Pentathlon - the 100 I.M. (52.96), the 50 breaststroke (27.17) and the 50 backstroke (24.97). He was fifth in the 50 butterfly (24.48) and fifth in the 50 freestyle (22.62). He would have won the combined Pentathlon with a time of 2:32.20 by over two seconds if that had been scored/kept by the hosts. Ryan was on two winning relays on Saturday. He was on the winning men's 500 freestyle relay (4:11.14) and the winning mixed 200 freestyle relay (1:35.30). His relay finished second in the mixed 200 medley relay (1:45.84).
