Football Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week
Wyatt Smith | Linfield | SR | QB | McMinnville, OR | McMinnville High School
Smith completed 23 of 34 passes for 312 yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions in a 52-23 home win over Pacific. He had a long pass of 61 yards, which connected for a touchdown in the third quarter. Smith also rushed for 43 yards on six carries with a 40-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
Football Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week
Travis Swanson | Linfield | SR | DE | Hailey, ID | Wood River High School
Swanson finished tied for the team lead with seven tackles, five solo, in the Wildcats' 52-23 win over Pacific. He had three sacks for a loss of 23 yards. Swanson anchored a Linfield defense that limited the Boxers to 87 rushing yards and 170 passing yards for 257 yards of total offense. The Boxers had to punt eight times and converted on just 3 of 15 third down opportunities.
Football Special Teams Student-Athlete of the Week
Alex Koga | Lewis & Clark | JR | K/P | Vancouver, WA | Union High School
Alex Koga went 5 for 5 on field goals including his last, a 37-yard attempt, that gave the Pios a two-score lead with 1:24 left in the fourth quarter. His second from 37 yards out, which matched his longest of the season, gave the Pios a 43-34 lead. That was critical, as Willamette scored again to make the final 43-41. The Pioneers retained the Wagon Wheel for the fourth straight time, something they hadn't done since 1989-92. Lewis & Clark also hadn't scored 40 or more points in back-to-back games against the Bearcats since they posted 51 and 41 in 1991 and 1992, respectively.
