Football Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week
Wyatt Smith | Linfield | SR | QB | McMinnville, OR | McMinnville High School
Smith led Linfield in a 42-7 beating of undefeated and No. 18 Whitworth. He completed 24 of 35 passes for 308 yards and four touchdowns. He had a long pass of 52 yards, which connected for a touchdown in the third quarter. Smith also rushed five times for 66 yards and a touchdown. He had a long run of 48 yards, which was good for a touchdown with 28 seconds left in the first half. In total, Smith had five touchdowns and 374 yards of total offense. All other wins across the NWC were against teams with losing records, but the 'Cats beat a nationally-ranked opponent.
Football Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week
Tyler Bergeron | Linfield | SR | S | Battle Ground, WA | Battle Ground High School
Bergeron led a Linfield defense that held undefeated and No. 18 Whitworth to just seven points, which came in the fourth quarter when the Wildcat reserves entered the game. Bergeron finished with a game-high eight tackles, six solo, and had an interception in the second quarter. Whitworth finished with just 15 rushing yards on 28 attempts, averaging 0.5 yards per rush. The Pirates had no passing touchdowns with Bergeron anchoring the defensive backs.
Football Special Teams Student-Athlete of the Week
Caden Almer | Pacific | JR | K | Pollock Pines, CA | Union Mine High School
Caden Almer broke the school record for most made extra points in a game as the kicker was a perfect 9-for-9 on the day. Almer also went 2-for-2 on field goals, scoring a total of 15 points for the Boxers.
