HILLSBORO, Ore. – The Northwest Conference is proud to announce Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of October 29th to November 4th.

Men's Cross Country Student-Athlete of the Week - Colin Monaghan, Puget Sound (So.)

Monaghan (Puyallup, Wash.) ran to his second consecutive NWC Runner of the Year title after taking first at the 2019 NWC Cross Country Championship. The sophomore finished the 8-kilometer race in 24:35.5.

Women's Cross Country Student-Athlete of the Week - Whitney Rich, Whitman (Jr.)

Rich (McMinnville, Ore.) was the individual champion at the 2019 NWC Cross Country Championship, earning NWC Runner of the Year honors and helping lead the Blues to their first team title since 1999. The junior finished the 6-kilometer race in 21:35.20.

Men's Soccer Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week - Cameron Perron, Linfield (Jr., GK)

Playing every minute in goal for the Wildcats over the weekend, Perron (Long Beach, Calif.) stopped six shots to preserve a shutout in 1-0 win over the Whitworth Pirates on Sunday and record a .867 save percentage on the weekend. He had a total of 13 saves this past week, and is fifth in the NWC with 4.30 saves per game.

Men's Soccer Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week - Zak Gregg, Pacific Lutheran (Fr.)

Gregg (Federal Way, Wash.) tallied a hat trick in a road win over George Fox, earning six points nad helping the Lutes reclaim the top spot in the league standings.

Women's Soccer Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week - Madi Pastores, Lewis & Clark (Fr., D)

Led by Pastores (Sherwood, Ore.), the Pioneers swept the No. 2 and No. 3 teams in the conference with Wednesday's win over Willamette. Outside of Willamette and PLU, Lewis & Clark was the only team in NWC play this season to hold Puget Sound to a sub-.100 shot (SH%) percentage with only three of the Loggers' 15 shots last Saturday in frame including the only goal allowed by the Pioneers in a 2-1 victory. On Wednesday, the Pios beat Willamette and held the Bearcats to seven shots, their second-lowest in all of NWC play.

Women's Soccer Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week - Julia Markmann, Lewis & Clark (Fr., F)

Markmann's (Sønderborg, Denmark) overtime winner gave the Pioneers their fourth win in their last five matches. In the Pioneers win over Willamette, Markmann assisted on both of Lewis & Clark's goals. Markmann led the team in shots in both games.

Men's Swimming Student-Athlete of the Week - Michael Chang, Whitman (So.)

helped the Blues to opening weekend wins over Pacific and George Fox, finishing first in six events over the two meets. Individually, Chang was the champion in the 100 butterfly (52.77) and the 200 butterfly (1:59.23), and swam a leg in the winning 200 medley relay, 200 freestyle relay, 400 medley relay, and 400 freestyle relay.

Women's Swimming Student-Athlete of the Week - Bailey Hamilton, Pacific Lutheran (So.)

Hamilton (Modesto, Calif.) finished first in six events over the weekend as the Lutes picked up two dual-meet wins. The sophomore was the individual champion in the 200 individual medley (2:21.11), the 200 freestyle (2:01.69), and the 100 butterfly (1.01.92), while also swimming a leg in the winning 400 medley relay, 400 freestyle relay, and 200 medley relay.

Volleyball Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week - Emiko Kahler, Whitworth (Sr., OH)

Kahler (Happy Valley, Ore.) had a huge offensive weekend, leading Whitworth to a pair of wins that clinched the 2019 NWC title. She averaged 5.29 kills per set and hit .367. The senior has moved within 24 kills of setting Whitworth's all-time career record. She added 20 digs, six block assists and two service aces.
