HILLSBORO, Ore. – The Northwest Conference is proud to announce Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of October 1st to October 7th.

Men's Cross Country Student-Athlete of the Week - Colin Monaghan, Puget Sound (So.)

Monaghan (Puyallup, Wash.) placed first among 113 runners the Chuck Bowles Invitational, finishing 12 seconds ahead of the second-place runner. He recorded a time of 24:37.5 to earn his fifth consecutve Student-Athlete of the Week recognition.

Women's Cross Country Student-Athlete of the Week - Whitney Rich, Whitman (Jr.)

Rich (McMinnville, Ore.) won her first race of the season out of 170 runners, including Division I runners, with a time of 17:38.0.

Men's Golf Student-Athlete of the Week - Alex Weirth, Willamette (Fr.)

Weirth (Port Orchard, Wash.) earned his first collegiate individual win by placing first at the George Fox University Invitational with a 36-hole score of 1-under-par 143. He shot a 72 in the first round and a 71 in the second round, to win by one stroke. He also helped Willamette place third in the team standings.

Women's Golf Student-Athlete of the Week - Rachel Drgastin, George Fox (Sr.)

Drgastin (Bend, Ore.), the Bruins' senior captain, won the individual medalist honor and helped her teammates capture the 2019 Culturame Classic in Canby, Ore., against a field loaded with talent from NCAA DIII Top 25 programs. The senior finished with a score of 150(+6) and a best round of 74.

Men's Soccer Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week - Owen Davis-Bower (Sr., GK)

Davis-Bower (Bellingham, Wash.) allowed only one goal on the weekend in two conference wins for the Blues. He allowed only one goal in 90 minutes of play against George Fox while making five saves. Against Pacific, he posted a clean sheet after coming off the bench in the first half in what was a 0-0 game at the time to record a .833 save percentage on the weekend.

Men's Soccer Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week - Oscar Harding, Whitman (So., F)

Harding (Seattle, Wash.) scored a goal in both games of Whitman's two league wins against George Fox and Pacific (Ore.) this past weekend. The two goals were his first and second goals of the season, both proving to be gamewinners.

Hunting (Kennewick, Wash.) anchored a defense that allowed just five shots on goal all weekend. Through the opening six games of NWC play, the Lutes have allowed just one goal.

Women's Soccer Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week - Gabbie Berg, Puget Sound (Sr., F)

Berg recorded an assist in a 2-0 win over Lewis & Clark, then scored the only two goals for the Loggers against George Fox the following day to end the weekend with five points. The senior recorded a 1.000 shot on goal percentage on the weekend.

Women's Tennis Student-Athlete of the Week - Andei Fukushige, Whitman (Fr.)

Fukushige (Tokyo, Japan) won both the singles and doubles titles two weekends ago at the ITA Northwest Fall Regional Championships...won the singles title, then teamed up with Andrea Gu to top teammates Anastasiya Redkina and Angel Le in the doubles final. She now travels to Rome, Ga. for the ITA Cup

Volleyball Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week - Elika Unti, Pacific (Ore.) (So., MB)

Unti (Castro Valley, Calif.) recorded 1.44 blocks per set and 13 blocks in nine sets of action as the Boxers posted a five-set win over Puget Sound a four-set win over Pacific Lutheran. Against the Lutes, she was a force in the middle with 10 blocks - a block solo and nine block assists, as the Lutes were held to a .155 hitting percentage.

Volleyball Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week - Jordan Zweifel, Pacific (Ore.) (Jr., OH)

Against two of the top teams in the Northwest Conference, Zweifel (Tillamook, Ore.) led the Boxers with 36 kills and 4.0 kills per set, including 22 against Puget Sound in a five-set victory and 14 more against Pacific Lutheran in a four-set victory. Also against the Loggers, she hit .409 to go along with 16 digs and two blocks in the win. In the win over the Lutes, she hit .290 with six digs and three blocks.
