NWC Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week for Oct. 24 - 30, 2011
Jenna Quiring
Linfield, Senior
Portland, Ore./Sunset
Quiring, a sweeper, scored the game-winning goal against
Whitman and also anchored a solid Linfield defense that surrendered
just 15 shots and one goal (a penalty kick) over two matches. In
shutting out Whitworth, the Wildcats matched a program
single-season record with nine shutouts. Quiring's stellar
defensive play helped Linfield remain in a first-place tie in the
NWC team standings, match another program single-season record with
13 wins and go 2-0 on the tough eastern Washington road swing for
the first time since 2002. (Linfield def. Whitworth 1-0; Linfield
def. Whitman 2-1)
