In Whitworth's 40-34 win at Puget Sound, Thomas rallied Whitworth to victory with touchdown runs of 17 yards and 37 yards in the final six minutes to help the Pirates overcome a 34-28 deficit. He finished with 153 yards on 27 carries and scored three touchdowns. He led the NWC in rushing this year with 1,044 yards and scored 11 touchdowns.
