Another quality start from senior Matt Robinson led the Puget Sound baseball team to a 4-2
win over Whitman in Saturday's home-opener. The second game of the
series was suspended in the top of the seventh with the score tied
at 4-4 dues to rain.
George Fox 21, Lewis & Clark 3 (Game
1)
George Fox 12, Lewis & Clark 3 (Game
2)
Josh Rapacz and Danny Clifford combined to go 13-for-17
at the plate and drive in 18 runs, leading the George Fox
University Bruins to a 21-3, 12-3 doubleheader sweep of the Lewis
& Clark College Pioneers that opened the Northwest Conference
baseball schedule for both teams Saturday afternoon here at Morse
Field.
Pacific Lutheran 1, Willamette 0 (Game
1)
Pacific Lutheran 4, Willamette 3 (Game 2)
Max Beatty and Trevor Lubking had
stellar starting pitching performances and Daniel
Altchech made his first collegiate hit a big one as
Pacific Lutheran swept Willamette, 1-0 and 4-3, in a Northwest
Conference baseball doubleheader played Saturday at the PLU
field.
Linfield 10, Pacific (Ore.) 2 (Game 1)
Linfield 6, Pacific (Ore.) 1 (Game 2)
Jake Wylie (Jr., Eagle, Idaho) went 6-for-9 on the day
and Chris Haddeland (Soph., McMinnville,
Ore.) threw a complete game as 22nd-ranked Linfield swept Pacific
in its first Northwest Conference matchup of the season Saturday at
Roy Helser Field.
Whitworth 6, Austin 2 (Game 1)
Texas-Tyler 5, Whitworth 4 (Game 2)
Carson Blumenthal's seven strong innings led Whitworth to a
6-2 win over Austin College in a non-conference baseball game on
Saturday, but Texas-Tyler's Cayden Cunniff singled home the winning
run for his Patriots in a 5-4 victory over the Pirates in the
nightcap of the Clements Fluids
Classic.
Sunday, Mar. 3
Texas-Tyler 12, Whitworth 2
Kevin House had a home run and a triple, while Isaac Tijerina drove
in three runs to lead host University of Texas-Tyler to a 12-2 win
over visiting Whitworth on Sunday
morning.
Willamette 7, Pacific Lutheran 6
Brandon Simon pitched into the seventh inning for his first victory
of the season and Willamette held off a late rally by Pacific
Lutheran to post a 7-6 Northwest Conference baseball win in a game
played Sunday afternoon at the PLU
field.
Puget Sound 5, Whitman 4 (F/10)
Connor Savage lifted the Puget Sound baseball team to a
10-inning 5-4 win in the continuation of yesterday's game before
Whitman took the final game of the series
9-3.
George Fox 9, Lewis & Clark 8
Timothy Williams singled in Josh Rapacz with the bases
loaded and one out in the bottom of the ninth inning, capping a
bizarre six-run rally that lifted the George Fox University Bruins
past the stunned Lewis & Clark College Pioneers for a sweep of
their Northwest Conference baseball series Sunday afternoon here at
Morse
Field.
Linfield 4, Pacific (Ore.) 3
As the tying run took off for home on a dropped third strike,
Linfield catcher Kyle Chamberlain (Sr.,
Portland, Ore.) threw to first to complete the final out of a
tension-filled 4-3 Wildcat victory over Pacific Sunday afternoon at
Roy Helser Field.
