NWC Women's Track - Apr. 3-9, 2017

Women’s Track Student-Athlete of the Week – April 3-9, 2017

KAYLA LELAND, Whitworth

Junior, Spokane, Wash. / Gonzaga Prep HS

Leland won the 1,500 meters at the World War #10 meet in a time of 4:33.73, improving her personal record by three seconds.  She now leads the NWC and ranks third in the NCAA Division III.  She came back and won the 800 meters as well in a time of 2:17.72 that was just off of her season-best. In each race, she edged out a Division I runner for the top spot - Gonzaga in the 1,500 and Seattle in the 800.  This gives her a second NWC award this spring and gives Whitworth track honors four weeks in a row.
